Abstract

Ecuador, as a political entity, has promulgated a set of laws that have resulted in the imposition of traditionalist models, and have not allowed the recognition of ethnic minorities in Ecuador; especially, of those indigenous, Afro-Ecuadorian and Montubio groups and peoples such as the right to vote and the rights of participation; Therefore, this research aims to analyze the representation of ethnic diversity in the movements or political parties of Ecuador, electoral processes in 2016-2020. As results, the participation of ethnic minorities in electoral processes would represent a key element in the balance of democracy, basic principles of international norms relating to human rights.
