The geostationary synchronous orbit recognized in the Ecuadorian constitution: analysis from the space law. Dilemas contemp. educ. política valores [online]. 2021, vol.9, n.spe1, 00105.  Epub Jan 31, 2022. ISSN 2007-7890.  https://doi.org/10.46377/dilemas.v9i.3015.

This article analyzes the right of the Ecuadorian State on the segment of the geostationary synchronous orbit established in article 4 of the constitution. The research is qualitative with a descriptive scope of a documentary type. The result obtained is that the Ecuadorian State cannot claim the monopoly or exclusive right over the segment of the geostationary orbit, since it ratified the treaty on the principles that should govern the activities of the States in the exploration and use of outer space, and The principle of pacta sunt servanda applies. In conclusion, the right assumed by the Ecuadorian State over the orbit in the constitution does not differ from the right that any other State may have over it.

Keywords : geostationary synchronous orbit; space law; sovereignty; airspace; outer space.
