Abstract

The digital divide: A conceptual revision and methodological contributions for its study in Mexico. Entreciencias: diálogos soc. conoc. [online]. 2018, vol.6, n.16, pp.47-62.  Epub Aug 04, 2020. Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) are tools that can represent opportunities to generate benefits in society. However, the digital divide in the access, use and social appropriation of these technologies results in the exclusion of certain groups of people in the Information and Knowledge Society (SIC). This contribution presents a critical review of the definition of the digital divide and its conceptual and methodological approach in the international and national context, as well as relevant aspects for the construction of a methodological proposal in the study of the digital divide in Mexico from a multifactorial, contextual and multidisciplinary perspective.

Keywords : ICT; digital divide; appropriation; Information and Knowledge Society.
