Abstract

COUDER CABRAL, Ernesto Díaz. Multiculturalismo y educación. Cultura representaciones soc [online]. 2009, vol.4, n.7, pp.27-54. ISSN 2007-8110.

The main purpose of this discussion is to explore some fundamental notions underlying multiculturalism and its implications on educational policies. The common strategy of treating multiculturalism as if it were the same thing as relativism is contested, arguing that multiculturalism and relativism are based on different intellectual grounds. Moreover, it is argued that there are at least three different types of multicultural points of view, each supporting its own kind of educational policies, although one of the multicultural views seems more compatible with an intercultural approach in education and society.
