Abstract

HAESBAERT, Rogério. From the myth of deterritorialization to multiterritoriality. Cultura representaciones soc [online]. 2013, vol.8, n.15, pp.9-42. ISSN 2007-8110.

This article discusses the use of the term "deterritorialization"in the Social Sciences and the concepts of territory as related to it, generally in an implicit way. The dichotomies through which the notion of territory is generally approached are questioned. Instead, we propose to work with the notion of deterritorialization, not only in the generic sense of destruction or abandon of a territory but also in the sense of territorial insecurity of the subordinated groups. In general, what the hegemonic groups consider as deterritorializaction, actually represents the experience of a multiterritoriality.

Keywords : space; territory; deterritorialization; multiterritoriality.
