Abstract

PEREZ RUIZ, Maya Lorena. A dialog with Arturo Escobar. On hybridization and interculturality in post development. Cultura representaciones soc [online]. 2014, vol.9, n.17, pp.74-109. ISSN 2007-8110.

This text outlines some of Arturo Escobar's relevant ideas for stablishing a relationship of respect to the peoples that constitute the otherness of the hegemonic western world; this is carried out within a framework that criticizes the developmental model of modernity. More specifically it focusses on his notions that outline "worlds and knowledge differently" in the construction of a different interaction between actors with dissimilar ways of life and systems of knowledge, in a global context that subordinates the peoples whose culture, knowledge and identities differ from the hegemonic ones. In addition, four aspects that must be thought over to avoid misunderstandings are critically analyzed: the conceptualization of nonscientific knowledge, the need of its translation and hybridization and interculturality as pathways for construction in post development.

Keywords : hybridization; interculturality; I post development; globalization; culture; Pierre Bourdieu.
