Abstract

ROMERO RUIZ, Raúl. Socio-Spatial representations of public Space from a territoriality perspective. The case of public squares in the Historic Center. Cultura representaciones soc [online]. 2020, vol.15, n.29, pp.203-231.  Epub Mar 07, 2022. ISSN 2007-8110.

As part of urban processes within contemporary cities, the concept of “space” and, particularly, that of “public space” has become an essential element of common interest. Research has been carried out to help understand what is happening within them and how these changes impact the construction of new practices, discourses and meanings through the social, political and cultural relationships that are established, as well as how this occurs in everyday life. In this text, a theoretical-methodological proposal is presented using social Socio-Spatial Representations (RSE), or social topo-representations, as contemporary alternatives for recognizing and studying the city and its spaces, based on the anchorage built from the point of view of territoriality.

Keywords : Socio-spatial representations; territoriality; topophilia; topophobia; toponegligence.
