The fish species collected in Mexican territory and deposited in the museum of Zoology of the University of Costa Rica (UCR) are hereby reported. This collection is comprised of 23 batches and 178 specimens, that represent 17 species, 14 genera, 11 families and 6 orders. Included are: 9 paratypes, in 3 batches; two specimens of Rypticus courtenayi (Serranidae) and seven specimens, in 2 batches of the species Sphoeroides lispus (Tetraodontidae), endemic to Mexico. Reference information is presented for each batch (location, collector, date, number of species and scope of sizes) as well as photographs of the species.
