Abstract

GRACIANO-AVILA, Gabriel; AGUIRRE-CALDERON, Óscar A.; ALANIS-RODRIGUEZ, Eduardo  and  LUJAN-SOTO, José E.. Composition, structure and diversity of tree species in a températe forest in Northwestern México. Ecosistemas y recur. agropecuarios [online]. 2017, vol.4, n.12, pp.535-542. ISSN 2007-901X.  https://doi.org/10.19136/era.a4n12.1114.

The structure and diversity of tree species in a températe forest in Northwestern México were described. Nine sampling sites 50 x 50 m (2 500 m2) were established, and a census of all tree species was carried out. Each individual was measured: total height and diameter at breast height. The importance valué Índex (IVI) was obtained, based on the following variables: abundance, dominance, and frequency. The diversity and richness indexes were also calculated. Overall, twelve species, four genera, and four families were recorded. The forest has a 575.11 individuals ha-1 density and a 23.54 m2 ha-1 basal area. Pinus cooperi was the species that showed the highest IVI (79.05 %), and a Shannon Índex of 1.74.
