Abstract
ALVAREZ-HOLGUIN, Alan et al. Median lethal dose and average growth reduction due to gamma radiation in African grass (Eragrostis lehmanniana Ness). Ecosistemas y recur. agropecuarios [online]. 2018, vol.5, n.13, pp.81-88. ISSN 2007-901X. https://doi.org/10.19136/era.a5n13.1268.
The objective was to determine the median lethal dose (LD50) and average growth reduction (GR50) in African grass (Eragrostis lehmanniana) to determine the optimal dose of gamma irradiation to induce mutagenesis in this species. The variables evaluated were germination percentage, germination speed index, plumule length, radicle length, forage yield, seed production, number of stems, plant height, tiller diameter and chlorophyll concentration index. A trend analysis was performed for each variable and with the resulting regression equation the LD50 and GR50 were estimated. The results obtained indicate that the LD50 was found at 2076 Gy, while the GR50 fluctuated between 1357 and 1900 Gy. For the genetic improvement of this species, it is recommended to use the weighted average of 1533 Gy of both parameters.
