Abstract
LUCK-MONTERO, Ramón et al. Ovicidal and larvicidal activity of aqueous extracts of Pluchea sericea and Artemisia tridentata on Haemonchus contortus. Ecosistemas y recur. agropecuarios [online]. 2018, vol.5, n.13, pp.149-156. ISSN 2007-901X. https://doi.org/10.19136/era.a5n13.1370.
The objective was to evaluate the ovicidal and larvicidal activity of aqueous extracts of Pluchea sericea and Artemisia tridentata leaves on Haemonchus contortus. Concentrations of 100, 75, 50, 25 and 12.5 mg mL-1 of each extract were assessed. There were significant differences (p ≤ 0.05) for all the concentrations in the inhibition of egg hatching and larval mortality of H. contortus. The 100 mg mL-1 dose reduced larval hatching by 100 and 96.30%, with larval mortality of 92.67 and 89.33% for P. sericea and A. tridentata, respectively. The LC50 was 23.21 and 23.26 mg mL-1 for the inhibition of egg hatching; for larval mortality, a LC50 of 20.36 and 27.18 mg mL-1 was found for the extracts of P. sericea and A. tridentata, respectively. The aqueous extracts of P. sericea and A. tridentata leaves control the egg and larval stages of H. contortus.
