Abstract

MORENO-RESENDEZ, Alejandro et al. Development of zucchini (Cucúrbita pepo L.) using different fertilization sources under greenhouse conditions. Ecosistemas y recur. agropecuarios [online]. 2019, vol.6, n.16, pp.145-151.  Epub Oct 01, 2019. ISSN 2007-901X.  https://doi.org/10.19136/era.a6n16.1803.

Vermicompost (VC) is used as a fertilizer to satisfy the nutritive demand of plants, without affecting yield and quality. The objective of this study was to evaluate the development of zucchini using different fertilization sources under greenhouse conditions. Six fertilization treatments were evaluated: a) four nutrient solutions (T1-T4); b) vermicompost:sand mixture (2:3, v:v) (T5); and c) T5 + Steiner’s nutrient solution (T6), under greenhouse conditions with seven replicates that were distributed under a completely randomized design. The variables length, diameter, soluble solids content, fruit number, fruit weight and per-plant yield were evaluated. Analysis of variance and Tukey’s test were performed on the data (p < 0.05). The T6 treatment generated the best response for the variables: length, diameter, fruit number and weight, and yield, with 13.89 and 5.54 cm, 14.43 fruits, 274.57 g and 3,987.7 g plant-1, respectively.
