Abstract

ROJAS, Olga Lorena. Mexican men and contraception use. Iztapalapa. Rev. cienc. soc. humanid. [online]. 2014, vol.35, n.77, pp.77-95. ISSN 2007-9176.  https://doi.org/10.28928/ri/772014/atc3/lorenarojaso.

Having in mind the political, social and demographic context in wich massive diffusion of contraceptive methods took place since middle 70's, this text shows how male participation was marginalized from medical orientations about couple contraceptive practice. Nevertheless, some academics developed valuable theoretical and analytican efforts to incluide men's experiences in the study of reproduction and its control. We present some results of qualitative research that have studied meanings and values that men give to reproduction and contraception.

Keywords : male; contraceptive practice; reproduction; gender.
