Abstract

OLIVIER TELLEZ, Guadalupe  and  TAMAYO, Sergio. Political tensions in the process of mobilization-demobilization: The movement #YoSoy132. Iztapalapa. Rev. cienc. soc. humanid. [online]. 2015, vol.36, n.79, pp.131-170. ISSN 2007-9176.  https://doi.org/10.28928/revistaiztapalapa/792015/aot3/oliviertellezg/tamayoalatorres.

The aim of this paper is to highlight the main tensions of #YoSoy132 movement, emerged in Mexico in 2012 electoral process, and spread up to dozens of cities across the country. Despite the symbolic impact it had on the electoral campaign and in the soul of citizen groups, the movement did not achieve its immediate goals. It entered into a mobilization-demobilization dynamic, it concluded amid strong divisions in January 2013, and generated a period of contradictory resonances and expectations, into fragmented groups of activists in different parts of the country.

Keywords : Student movements; #YoSoy132; mobilization; demobilization; action; repression.
