Abstract

RIOS GORDILLO, Carlos Alberto. The one who sees, the one who writes. Telling the war, writing the present. Iztapalapa. Rev. cienc. soc. humanid. [online]. 2022, vol.43, n.93, pp.229-254.  Epub Aug 08, 2022. ISSN 2007-9176.  https://doi.org/10.28928/ri/932022/aot3/riosgordilloc.

Greek historians used informants and witnesses to learn about near-contemporary history. Centuries later, ethnologists used the interview to talk to them, while in journalism, the interview has been used to obtain individual testimony, as well as to recreate the history of the country. In the human sciences, it has become a research technique for reconstructing the living conditions and mental atmosphere of the present, giving the user the opportunity to create his or her own documents. When applied to an investigative journalist and correspondent in the Northeast of Mexico during the years of the «war against drugs», the interview reveals the cognitive conditions of the witness, as well as the conditions of the creation of testimonies. Thus, the one who sees, the one who writes, also tells the war and writes history.

Keywords : Interview; testimonial; narco war; journalism; methods.
