Abstract
RODRIGUEZ PEREZ, Reyna Elizabeth. Salary differential by gender between the public and private formal-informal sector in Mexico. Rev. econ. [online]. 2019, vol.36, n.93, pp.62-89. Epub Oct 09, 2020. ISSN 2395-8715. https://doi.org/10.33937/reveco.2019.108.
The objective of this research is to analyze the salary differences in the public, private (formal and informal) labor market, given the personal and labor characteristics of the workers, and whether these are due to attributes of human capital or different income in a sector. And other, when performing the analysis for samples of women and men separately and by gender throughout the salary distribution. With the methodology of Fortin, Lemieux y Firpo (2011), and the 2017 Occupation and Employment Survey. The results show that working in the public sector has important salary advantages for both genders, mainly for them in the low-wage group. In the public sector, the differences are explained by the productive characteristics and in the formal and informal private, they respond largely to the part not explained by the productive attributes.
