This editorial introduces the special issue of the Journal of Economics, Faculty of Economics, Autonomous University of Yucatán, on Gender and Industrial Development. It offers a broad overview of the challenges that women face in participating equitably in the job opportunities created by industrial development. It highlights the main contributions of five articles selected to be published in this special issue, which explore various facets of industrial development across diverse geographical and socio-economic contexts.
