Abstract

VAZQUEZ PARRA, José Carlos. Inclusion as a determinant of poverty in the LGBTI+ community in Mexico. Cienc. ergo-sum [online]. 2022, vol.29, n.2, e157.  Epub Oct 20, 2023. ISSN 2395-8782.  https://doi.org/10.30878/ces.v29n2a2.

This paper seeks to reflect on poverty and economic inclusion in a specific sector; the LGBTI+ community. The analysis is based on the United Nations Development Programme and the World Bank’s LGBTI Inclusion Index. By means of a theoretical reflection, as well as a field study in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area, the aim is to identify the impact that inclusion can have on the lack of opportunities and poverty of this group in productive age. As a conclusion it is confirmed that the lack of inclusion is a factor that can detonate poverty in a population of this group.

Keywords : Unemployment; inequality; discrimination; exclusion; Guadalajara.
