Abstract
SOSA-HERNANDEZ, Óscar; CAMPOS-JIMENEZ, Rachel and CERNA-CARDONA, Jony. Multidisciplinary work in endoscopy areas during the COVID-19 pandemic. Endoscopia [online]. 2020, vol.32, n.4, pp.130-137. Epub Oct 11, 2021. ISSN 2444-6483. https://doi.org/10.24875/end.20000041.
The multidisciplinary work in the areas of endoscopy in the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic is essential to establish the biosecurity measures necessary to minimize the risk of transmission of the virus between patients and among endoscopy personnel. Recognition of the necessary preventive measures, scrutiny of suspected or confirmed patients for COVID-19, exclusive performance of endoscopic procedures considered urgent and deferral of those who are elective, training of personnel in the proper placement and removal of equipment of personal protection, as well as the importance of decontamination and disinfection of endoscopy areas and the equipment used, have a direct impact on the proper functioning and reduction of infection risks. This document focuses on the necessary knowledge that must be taken into account by the entire team involved in performing endoscopic procedures in times of COVID-19.
