Abstract

HAMUD-GASCA, Óscar S.  and  MORALES-FUENTES, Gerardo A.. Infectious proctitis due to Chlamydia trachomatis, case report. Endoscopia [online]. 2021, vol.33, n.3, pp.119-121.  Epub May 09, 2022. ISSN 2444-6483.  https://doi.org/10.24875/end.21000035.

A case of colonoscopy images compatible with infectious proctitis is presented, with C. trachomatis identified through PCR and histopathology as the causative agent. Clinical and endoscopic characteristics of this entity are difficult to differentiate from inflammatory bowel disease, thus an adequate approach and early differential diagnosis is crucial, especially in people with risk factors.

Keywords : Ulcerative proctitis; Chlamydia trachomatis; Colonoscopy.
