DOMINGUEZ-GARCIA, María del Rosario et al. Buried bumper syndrome. Endoscopia [online]. 2021, vol.33, n.4, pp.152-154. Epub Oct 31, 2022. ISSN 2444-6483. https://doi.org/10.24875/end.22000006.
Buried gastrostomy button syndrome (SGE), or “buried bumper syndrome” is a rare entity associated with percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) tube placement. Clinical suspicion begins with the appearance of PEG dysfunction. The diagnosis is made with endoscopy, being necessary for the extraction of PEG. A case of SGE in an elderly patient is presented. A focused review on described risk factors and associated clinical characteristics is presented to alert the endoscopist how to avoid this complication.
