Abstract

OLMEDO NERI, Raul Anthony. #SusanaDistancia in the Face of COVID-19 in Mexico. Government Campaigns and Networks on Twitter. Rev. mex. opinión pública [online]. 2021, n.31, pp.17-38.  Epub Oct 11, 2021. ISSN 2448-4911.  https://doi.org/10.22201/fcpys.24484911e.2022.31.77923.

This paper studies the communication strategy of the Mexican federal government based on the analysis of the hashtag #SusanaDistancia on Twitter. For this, the Social Network Analysis (ARS) method has been used at the digital level, with aims to identify the network underlying these processes, as well as the profiles that play a strategic role in the dissemination of information.

The information generated around #SusanaDistancia was collected from March 21 to 29, and April 19 to 26, 2020. This was done through data mining, and the interaction-communication networks were visualized with Gephi software.

The value of this work lies in the identification and analysis of the reticular structures that are formed around a government campaign of the Mexican in the context of COVID-19. Among the most relevant results of this analysis is the observation, within the networks, of the ascending positioning of political officials and public institutions, which have been in charge of directing and disseminating official information on good sanitary practices in Mexico.

Keywords : #SusanaDistancia; hashtag; Social Network Analysis; COVID-19; social media.
