Abstract

TACHER CONTRERAS, Daniel. Perspectives of the Vote of Mexican Citizens Residing Abroad in the 2020-2021 Electoral Process. Rev. mex. opinión pública [online]. 2022, n.32, pp.151-170.  Epub Apr 08, 2022. ISSN 2448-4911.  https://doi.org/10.22201/fcpys.24484911e.2022.32.80496.

This paper analyzes opinions about extraterritorial voting from Mexican citizens living abroad. The voting process is considered as a sequence of correlative actions resulting in a given level of participation in the electoral process. The process of voting abroad is evaluated through the contrasting opinions and perceptions of Mexican citizens living outside the country, which are known through semi-structured interviews and a random sample survey among the Mexican community abroad. The results seek to offer an explanation for the level of participation that voters engage in, which is explained as a consequence of their knowledge of the registration process and the activities of electoral authorities for developing liaison and institutional communication activities.

Keywords : Voting abroad; Mexico; 2021 elections.
