Abstract

SORRIBAS, Patricia Mariel. Support for Democracy in Mexico 2021: An Approach to an Explanation. Rev. mex. opinión pública [online]. 2023, n.34, pp.111-129.  Epub Feb 05, 2024. ISSN 2448-4911.  https://doi.org/10.22201/fcpys.24484911e.2023.34.83558.

This study analyzes the level of diffuse support for democracy in Mexico using data from the 2021 round of the “Americas Barometer”. By means of an ordinal regression analysis, the main explanatory variables were identified. Among the variables, two dimensions of support for democracy stand out that contain evaluative judgments that were identified from an exploratory factor analysis. In turn, the main continuities and discontinuities in the trends observed for Mexico since 2016 are presented.

Keywords : Diffuse support for democracy; Specific support for democracy; Democratic attitudes.
