Abstract

RESTREPO TAMAYO, John Fernando  and  JARAMILLO CASTRILLON, Kevin Alexander. Power and governmentality in Michel Foucuault. Derecho glob. Estud. sobre derecho justicia [online]. 2018, vol.4, n.10, pp.77-99.  Epub Oct 14, 2020. ISSN 2448-5136.  https://doi.org/10.32870/dgedj.v0i10.196.

The purpose of this article is to describe a theoretical reflection of political power in Foucault in regards to the critical position it describes regarding the existence, relevance and necessity of the State as a political entity that promotes the common good. This description is made through a qualitative and comparative methodology that allows one to show how Foucault describes and questions the actions of the State as a realization of the spirit in the modern world. In order to accomplish this objective, the methodological and critical development of the notions of power and governmentality is presented, from where the repressive functionality of the State is conceived and described.

Keywords : State; freedom; repression; power; governmentality.
