Abstract

CADENA NAVA, Rubén Darío. Partículas tipo virus y su potencial aplicación en bionanotecnología. Mundo nano [online]. 2014, vol.7, n.13, pp.48-55.  Epub June 11, 2021. ISSN 2448-5691.

The viruses are nanoparticles that exist in the nature; they can cause agricultural disasters and large economic losses, and even death of humans. However, they can be used in technological and medical applications. The virus-like particles are constituted by a capsule of viral proteins symmetrically arranged, without his genetic material, containing a drug as cargo or genetic information in the form of DNA or RNA, enzymes or metallic nanoparticles. These nanoparticles lacking off its infectious genetic material can be potentially used in nanomedicine to improve the efficiency of drug delivery and can help to develop new therapies. Therapies based on virus-like particles may allow targeted drug delivery where it is required in a safety and efficient way, and therefore would be a decrease in the required dose and side effects.

Keywords : virus-like particles; capsule of viral proteins; nanomedicine.
