Abstract

REDON DE LA FUENTE, María del Rocío. Nanopartículas catalíticas… ¿polvo mágico?. Mundo nano [online]. 2015, vol.8, n.15, pp.53-90.  Epub June 05, 2021. ISSN 2448-5691.  https://doi.org/10.22201/ceiich.24485691e.2015.15.53868.

Since the discovery of nanosized materials, one of the areas with the highest incidence was the study of catalysts. In particular researchers in catalysis have invested many hours of research to find catalysts in these dimensions to improve the properties of the present catalysts, using nanoparticles of platinum group metals (ruthenium, osmium, rhodium, iridium, palladium, platinum) for this purposes. Among the community, some researchers named magic dust to the nanoparticles of the metals involved in catalytic processes, because of the marvelous properties attributed to them. But, how really magic are them? Are there some improvements in the relationship, cost/benefit?, which have been the contributions to the catalysis field? This article will make a brief description of some advances and discoveries in the field of homogeneous catalysis (single phase) with nanoparticle catalysts of these metals.

Keywords : metallic nanoparticles; platinum group; heterogenized catalysis; magic dust.
