LEMUS, Leslie. Women Construction Workers: Methodological Notes on Female Participation in Masculinized Occupations. Estud. sociol [online]. 2021, vol.39, n.117, pp.899-912. Epub Apr 04, 2022. ISSN 2448-6442. https://doi.org/10.24201/es.2021v39n117.2258.
The incorporation of women into paid work is a broad, complex phenomenon. Its characteristics vary according to the context, level and scale of analysis. In this text, I briefly review the notion of the feminization of labor markets, on the basis of which I present a methodological proposal that combines strategic ethnography and the biographical approach to study women’s participation in masculinized occupations, specifically blue collar jobs in the construction sector in contemporary Mexico City.
Keywords : feminization; labor markets; masculinized occupations; women construction workers.
