Abstract

FRESNEDA, Edel J.. Transnational Dispersion of Vulnerability: Analytical Axes and The Binational Case. Estud. sociol [online]. 2023, vol.41, n.122, pp.531-562.  Epub Oct 13, 2023. ISSN 2448-6442.  https://doi.org/10.24201/es.2023v41n122.2246.

This article seeks to examine the theoretical scope of the concept of “vulnerability” to understand migration as a cyclical process, with interdependent stages during which migratory flows arise from the particular nature of development. In this approach, interdependence is expressed when there is a reiteration of obstacles to social reproduction throughout the migratory journey. To this end, the author presents analytical axes with dimensions and indicators that attempt to encompass the complexity of migration, used here to evaluate the case of Mexican binationals. The concept of Transnational Dispersion of Vulnerability is framed as a proposal that addresses previous theoretical analyses of migration and development and enhances the dialogue between them.

Keywords : transnational dispersion of vulnerability; migration; binationals; development; exclusion.
