Abstract

VALENDER, James. Luis Cernuda, Octavio Paz and surrealism (1953-1959). Nueva rev. filol. hisp. [online]. 2023, vol.71, n.2, pp.669-700.  Epub Sep 08, 2023. ISSN 2448-6558.  https://doi.org/10.24201/nrfh.v71i2.3876.

This paper compares and contrasts the notion of surrealism defended by Octavio Paz and Luis Cernuda during the 1950’s; it examines the interest shared by both in the surrealist prose poem; it analyses the vision of love expressed by both poets in their surrealist poetry; and also points to the mutual influence that characterized the dialogue between the two poets at that time.

Keywords : Luis Cernuda; Octavio Paz; surrealism; prose poem and vision of love; mutual influence.
