Abstract

OROZCO, Leonor. Effects of turn-taking and direct speech in the expression of first person singular pronominal subjects. Nueva rev. filol. hisp. [online]. 2023, vol.71, n.2, pp.731-756.  Epub Sep 08, 2023. ISSN 2448-6558.  https://doi.org/10.24201/nrfh.v71i2.3878.

The aim of this article is to study the expression of singular first-person pronominal subjects by analyzing two factors related to the structure of interaction: turn-taking and direct speech. The analysis also takes into account other linguistic factors that have proved to be significant in previous studies. The results indicate that both turn-taking and direct speech are statistically significant for our understanding of the expression of yo/self in sociolinguistic interviews. This demonstrates the need to incorporate factors related to the structure of the interaction in studies of pronominal subjects.

Keywords : pronominal subjects; singular first-person; structure of interaction; turn-taking; direct speech.
