Abstract

GOMEZ CHINAS, Carlos. Structure of exports and competitiveness: The case of the countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. Anál. econ. [online]. 2017, vol.32, n.81, pp.75-92. ISSN 2448-6655.

The aim of this research is that of analyzing the evolution of international trade in accordance with the intense technological development of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN), so as to determine the relationship between a change in the technological intensity of the exportations as an indicator of its quality, competitiveness and economic growth. The hypothesis that we try to demonstrate is that: in order to increase the rate/amount of economic growth it is necessary that a change occurs in the structure of exports: from products with only a small amount of added value (primary products consisting of basic resources and little technology) to products incorporating medium, and high technology.

Keywords : exports; competitiveness; manufactures; South East Asia.
