Abstract

ORTIZ-PANIAGUA, Carlos Francisco; ZAMORA-TORRES, América Ivonne  and  BONALES-VALENCIA, Joel. Municipal economic vulnerability of agricultural impact in the face of climate change conditions in Michoacan. Anál. econ. [online]. 2018, vol.33, n.82, pp.73-93. ISSN 2448-6655.

Agriculture is an important source of income in some regions of Michoacan, Mexico. However, the agricultural economy is threatened by hydro-meteorological events such as extreme events (drought, frost, hail, flood, etc.), the regional climate variability, global climate change and national and international competition. The present article implements an index denominated Economic Vulnerability of the Agricultural Impact (IVEIA). Simultaneously, an analysis of the quadrants with the two components of the IVEIA has been made; The economic participation of agriculture in the municipal economy and the vulnerability of agricultural producers. The results show the feasibility for implementing a vulnerability index and a remarkable diversity in the economic vulnerability of the municipal agricultural impact in Michoacán.

Keywords : vulnerability agriculture; index; climatic change; agricultural economy.
