Abstract

ATLATENCO IBARRA, Quetzalli; GARZA CARRANZA, María Teresa De la  and  LOPEZ LEMUS, Jorge Armando. Non-contributory pensions and family transfers in old age from the perspective of young Mexican people. Anál. econ. [online]. 2021, vol.36, n.93, pp.67-80.  Epub Nov 16, 2021. The objective of this work is to specify the impact that some sociodemographic variables and financial knowledge have on the probability that young Mexicans foresee financing their old age with non-contributory pensions or with family transfers. Data from the 2018 national financial inclusion survey conducted by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography were used and two binary logistic regression models were established, one referring to non-contributory pensions and the other to family transfers. It is concluded that gender, marital status, locality, and region where young people live, and their level of studies influence the probability of expecting to receive non-contributory pensions or family transfers in old age. Knowledge of inflation was significant in one of the models.
