Abstract

ARCE MENOCAL, José; LOPEZ COELLO, Carlos; AVILA GONZALEZ, Ernesto  and  TIRADO ALMENDRA, J. Francisco. La restricción en el tiempo de acceso al alimento en pollo de engorda para reducir la mortalidad causada por el síndrome ascítico. Veterinaria México OA [online]. 2020, vol.7, n.3, 922.  Epub May 23, 2022. ISSN 2448-6760.  https://doi.org/10.22201/fmvz.24486760e.2020.3.922.

An experiment with boiler chicks from one to 56 days of age was conducted to study the effect of feed restriction and the incidence of ascites. Feed restriction was included from the 8th until the 56 th day of age with 8 hours per day of Access. Reduced growth rate was observed in 11.2%. Best results, in performance (7% less growth) with relation to control chicks feed ad libitum, were observed with feed restriction from the 8 th day until the 42nd. Reduction in growth in broilers due to feed restriction provoked an 88% ascites mortality decrement.
