Abstract
LOPEZ, Emiliano and NOGUERA, Deborah. Growth, distribution and dependent conditions: A comparative analysis of growth regimes between central and peripheral economies. El trimestre econ [online]. 2020, vol.87, n.346, pp.463-505. Epub Jan 20, 2021. ISSN 2448-718X. https://doi.org/10.20430/ete.v87i346.936.
This article explores the structural differences in growth patterns and income distribution between central and peripheral countries. Throughout the document we study the operation of the dimensions of dependency that the peripheral economies have in regard to global capital, in order to generate differential results in the interactions between growth and income distribution. To carry out this study, we conducted an analysis through different estimates of panel data models for 35 countries for the 1980-2014 period. In particular, in addition to the usual estimates of the components of aggregate demand and the most relevant variables that account for the financialization process, we include three variables that we consider to be representative of the dependent dynamics that capital accumulation takes in the periphery: participation in global value chains, levels of foreignization of economies and labor productivity differentials.
