Abstract

CARREON GUILLEN, Javier  and  CAMPOS COVARRUBIAS, Guillermo. Organizations, power and Michel Foucault. Investig. adm. [online]. 2006, vol.35, n.98, pp.74-81.  Epub May 13, 2024. ISSN 2448-7678.

The famous French theorist Michel Foucault uncovers, in one way, the Marxism related to the inclination of establishes a determination of economical over the power (authority). And by the other side to considerate that power (as an action) can be expressed as repression; but even can be a fight, a silent war. This can be traduced, from the Foucault perception in the microphysical of power, it means, the keen power that influences all over the social relationships. Microphysical of power under one of its expressions: the factory discipline, pressures subordinates [workers] inside organizations to assume some obligations and responsibilities with employers.

These antecedents manifest important change that's been experimented in Organization and Management Theories besides Foucault contribution. We completely know that social entities (organizations) need to be managed. Why? Weber solves this problem in his work "Economy and Society", where explains that inside organizations is mixed power and domination, it means that in a conventional way power as availability of resources [economical, authority, knowledge, etc]. In the operation of an organization -using the resources, in other words, power- and observe that instructions will be obeyed, is necessary to pressure by domination through managerial chart. This reflection derived from weberian concept, attribute to Management a reactionary role; however, Foucault's theory of microphysical of power, set up the problem and relieves Management of any fault.
