Abstract

RODRIGUEZ PEREGO, Nicolás. The New Administrative Thought. Investig. adm. [online]. 2007, vol.36, n.100, pp.109-125.  Epub May 06, 2024. ISSN 2448-7678.

At the beginning of the 2 Ist century it is convenient to observe the development and evolution of management thinking throughout the past century, characterized by a permanent preoccupation for the use of resources to achieve the best possible results. From the principles of scientific management of Taylor up to the most recent principles and techniques of management the important thread of studies about business management has been efficiency.

However, in a period in which the State has been subjected to policies that tend to reduce its sphere of action and demands of public administration an eficient use of its resources evaluating its results, the management doctrine and business practices have been more and more frequently using different categories rather than the search for gains and related with social interest. As a consequence, nowadays we encounter common terms in business vocabulary such as "mission", "social responsibility" and "leadership" whose origins are found outside the economical activities field and were unknown when the principles and techniques of management were developed and consolidated.

Keywords : Management thinking; efficiency; social responsability; organizations.
