Abstract

JIMENEZ GALAN, Yazmín Ivette  and  ARAGON GARCIA, Maribel. Diagnosis of the learning styles of the ESCOM students - I.P.N. Investig. adm. [online]. 2009, vol.38, n.103, pp.60-72. ISSN 2448-7678.

Even now, in the XXIst century, education and learning are complex issues wich are affected by a great amount of variables with diverse repercussions and different amounts of interrelationships. This situation, of course, obstructs its positivist analysis. Nonetheless, it is a fact that students learn in different ways and that learning processes are influenced by (among other factors) ambiental conditions, cultural baggage, age, preferences to colective or individual work, locus of control, and motivation for learning. Learning styles theory must be incorporated into teacher´s everyday work to achieve learning objetives and to make education models effective. This work shows the results of an investigation made between January and December 2008 in the Superior School in Systems Engineering of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional, that analizes the learning styles of 255 students of this career, in order to correlate them with ideal teaching-learning strategies for each style and increase educational quality.
