Abstract

RIVAS TOVAR, Luis Arturo. The nine powers of an investigator. Investig. adm. [online]. 2011, vol.40, n.108, pp.34-54. ISSN 2448-7678.

This is a reflection paper which answers three research questions: What is a researcher? What models of competence in research there is in literature? What are the universal skills of an investigator under LART model for all fields of knowledge? After a discussion on the proposals reported in the literature, we conclude that there are nine competencies that should prove a researcher to create original knowledge.

These skills are: To develop a research problem, development of a contextual framework, namely the state of the art review, build and validate models, creation and validation of a data collection instrument, master the techniques of data analysis, knowing how to structure a science and master document scientific writing, and knowing participation in a scientific event as a speaker and language skills and awareness of art and culture universal.

Keywords : Basic Competences of a Scientist; Scientific Skills; Skills of a Researcher.
