Abstract

The objective is to identify the competitive advantage in relation to innovation and environmental management in avocado exporting companies located in Uruapan, Michoacán, Mexico. The method was the exploratory and confirmatory analysis, using SPSS 23.0 and the SMARTPLS-SEM in 211 companies. As a result, it was validated that competitive advantage explains the relationship with innovation and environmental management. This is the first investigation to explain the competitive advantage in avocado exporting companies in Uruapan, a region where producers face the scourge of organized crime groups, which was a limitation in obtaining information, due to distrust and fear. The model indicates originality shows that even in complicated environments, companies can have competitive advantages taking care of the environment and using innovation..
