Abstract

TORRES ALEJO, Andrea. The political catechism as teaching tool. José María Luis Mora and his Catechism of the Mexican Federation of 1831. Let. hist. [online]. 2016, n.14, pp.87-106. ISSN 2448-8372.

To consummate Mexico's independence, the liberal conceptions based on the equality of all men before the law, justice and fraternity, were present in the political and social scenario derived from the process of emancipation of the Spanish metropolis. The emergence of a new system of government known as the first Federal Republic (1824-1835), put on the table the need to find elements that allow transmitting the political conception of the new Mexican State. In this sense, the use of political catechism was one of the viable alternatives to achieve this purpose.

Keywords : Political Catechism; Independence; Nation; Education; Mexican State.
