Abstract

LORUSSO, Fabrizio. An approach to the debates on the historical knowledge: from the 19th to 21st centuries. Let. hist. [online]. 2017, n.17, pp.209-236. ISSN 2448-8372.

This paper is an approach to the debates on the historical knowledge from the 19th century, to the 21st centuries. The first part describes the changes in historiography the development of the rankeano paradigm from the 19th to the 20th century, with the Annales school and the structuralist views, Marxist and quantitative approaches. The second considers the evolutions through the 20th century, including the linguistic change. The third reviews the debate between the latest Annales and the different or new “histories”, after the so-called cultural turn and the emersion of Global History and History of the Present. It describes how Oral History methodology has gained legitimation and is increasingly used by researchers.
