Abstract
TORRES MARTINEZ, Héctor Daniel. Urban guerrilla warfare in the city of Monterrey: “Subversive space” and political surveillance in the first half of the 1970s. Let. hist. [online]. 2018, n.19, pp.201-224. ISSN 2448-8372.
This paper analyzes the irrupcion of urban guerrilla warfare in the city of Monterrey, in the first half of the 1970s. The primary objective is to identify those public spaces that had a crucial role in the joint and adoption of the armed violence as possible modality of radical political change in the country. We examine the cultural dynamics that propitiated the rise of the “rebellious spirit”. Ultimately it is also important to analyze and to reflect on how these spaces were monitored and infiltrated by the security and intelligence services of the mexican political system, and the subsequent consequences and implications for the armed movement.
Keywords : urban guerrilla warfare; subversive space; surveillance; cultural mutation.
