Abstract

This article describes the physical features of theplaza de los Jaliscienses Ilustres, located in downtown Guadalajara, Jalisco. It focuses on the artistic values of the sculptures of the notable historical figures represented there and the artists who created them. In addition to the patrimonial value of the pieces and the fine work of the sculptors, the essay examines some of the political implications of this commemorative space and its role in the construction of the historical memory of the people of Jalisco.
