Abstract

ORTEGA REYNA, Jaime. Red heritage. Reflections on the centenary of the Mexican Communist Party. Let. hist. [online]. 2020, n.23, pp.195-223.  Epub May 04, 2021. ISSN 2448-8372.  https://doi.org/10.31836/lh.v0i0.7272.

In 2019 it was 100 years since the birth of the Mexican Communist Party (PCM), this led to an intense discussion about the place of that political ideology in the course of the Mexican 20th century. This text explores some of the most important nooks and crannies of what happened around the Communist centenary, highlighting an operation of rereading history where very specific lines of continuity are drawn. Faced with the categorizations of nostalgia or melancholy, the one of "counter-memory" is chosen, which appears at different levels of the way in which the role of the PCM is understood in Mexico and beyond.

Keywords : Communism; Communist Party; Communist International.
