Abstract

LUNA-GIJON, Gerardo; NAVA-CUAHUTLE, Anahí Abysai  and  MARTINEZ-CANTERO, Diana Angélica. The field diary as a teaching tool during the learning process in information design. Zincografía [online]. 2022, vol.6, n.11, pp.245-264.  Epub May 23, 2022. ISSN 2448-8437.  https://doi.org/10.32870/zcr.v6i11.131.

This article reports the findings of inserting the field diary as a support to the training process in information design (ID) in graphic design (DG) students. Through a qualitative study of participatory action research, and defining categories to analyze, the educational impact of a compilation of field diaries made by graphic students when they address the resolution of information design projects has been evaluated.

The field diary is a training tool that allows the student to learn significantly about information design, in addition to promoting reflection, making visible the work and thought process of the design processes that students follow, recording the emotions that they are involved in doing the projects and help form information design thinking. There are very few reports that talk about the insertion of the field diary in the teaching and practice of information design, so this study hopes to broaden the discussion of the subject and contribute to revaluing this tool. Since this is an interpretive study, it is necessary to extend it to include a larger population and be able to make comparisons to broaden its scope.
