This article introduces the concept of the Innovative Educational Project Lab. Design of Digital Ideas, created in the Design area of the Faculty of Plastic Arts of the Universidad Veracruzana as a learning space for the exploration of Design Thinking methods applied to the development of innovative ideas with digital technology. Additionally, it reports its first day, called Lab.1: Ideation of proposals to participate in the TecPrize contest, in which 13 students from various areas of knowledge participated. In this conference, two modalities for innovation in design were proposed: Mentality with a sense of intention and Mentality to explore concepts. In the first, the discovery phase was explored as inspiration for the subject with readings, videos, talks by specialists and the Buzz Report method (search for trends and innovations). While, for the second modality, in the Ideation phase, the design-fiction methods, brainstorming and the storyboard tool were used. As a result, two proposals were generated, one in comic format and the other in short film format. It concludes with a statistical analysis of the participants, creative and technological problems, as well as the topics of interest to the students for future sessions of the Lab project.
