Abstract

TORRENTERA, Alberto. Intersexuality and intertextuality. Common sense and bodily policies as a cultural challenge. Cuicuilco. Rev. cienc. antropol. [online]. 2019, vol.26, n.74, pp.87-104. ISSN 2448-8488.

This paper reflects the role of intersexuality in the field of contemporary, political and epistemic dispute, with regard to gender and sexuality. It is based on Geertz's conception of common sense as a cultural system in relation to understanding the fields of dispute concerning the body, normality, autonomy, knowledge and power. It is indicated that ‘opposition’ can be understood as an epochal condition, whereby certain socio-symbolic coordinates strive to extend the models of intelligibility of the human being -associated with posthumanity- whilst others seek to maintain it within traditional limits.

Keywords : Intersexuality; common sense; cultural system; gender; sexuality; power; posthumanity.
