Abstract

QUINTERO MALDONADO, Claudia Isabel  and  ROMERO NAVARRO, Manuel Salvador. The teacher collegiate in teacher training. IE Rev. investig. educ. REDIECH [online]. 2016, vol.7, n.13, pp.34-46. ISSN 2448-8550.

This article analyzes the role of the collegiate teacher in the training process of teachers of basic education. A first element that stands out in order to assess this function is the process of constructing of meanings and symbols within the normal-school community, in its cultural tradition. The text exposes how, from that tradition, the collegiate teacher of the normal-school hesitates between the current academic demands and the symbols, identities and forms of work considered as typical of normalism. By means of the analysis of some academic-administrative conditions of the Normal Urban School Professor Domingo Carballo Felix, and of the information recorded in interviews with the students of the same, it is concluded that it is indispensable to redefine the academic work, as well as update the identity of the teacher trainers. These need to become academics of higher education and expand their work towards research, diffusion and mentoring.

Keywords : teacher training; collegiate teacher; symbols; normal-school culture.
